Brewster Town Profile
Brewster Offers Room To Stretch Out
Brewster sits in the midsection of Cape Cod, chock-full of woods, ponds and delicious Cape Cod Bay views. If you feel like roughing it, pitch your tent in Nickerson State Park. If you’re a mint-on-the-pillow type, check in at the swanky Ocean Edge Resort.
Historic Route 6A is the big road in Brewster, and it’s lined with antique shops, inns, bed-and-breakfasts and a multitude of daffodils in season. The Brewster Store – an old-fashioned general store in an old historic house – is located on this stretch of road. The benches out front offer a venue to sip coffee and chat.
There’s room in Brewster to stretch out, and a wide variety of housing, from modest ranches in developments to magnificent old captain’s houses, where ghosts man the widow’s walk (if you’re lucky!). Brewster boasts 9,000 year-round residents. You can take a side road in chunky Brewster and get lost, something that’s not easy in skinnier parts of the Cape.
The town has no supermarkets, but provisions can be purchased at a few smaller grocery stores, including Brewster Farms, Ferretti’s Market and Brewster Village Market Place. There are supermarkets in the surrounding towns of Orleans, Harwich and Dennis. |
