Eastham Town Profile
Eastham Offers "Civilized" Outer Cape Living
The gateway town to the Outer Cape, Eastham has a population of just under 5,000, and stretches from Cape Cod Bay to Atlantic Ocean. The town is home to Coast Guard Beach, a hot surfing spot, and First Encounter Beach on the bay side, where the Pilgrims and natives reportedly met for the first time. Eastham is also home to the Salt Pond Visitor Center, the Cape Cod National Seashore’s orientation place (somewhat resembling a Pizza Hut).
Commercially, there’s a lot going on in Eastham, at least by Outer Cape standards. Route 6 is peppered with restaurants and other necessary concerns, including a giant health club complete with indoor climbing walls (Willy's World Wellness & Conference Center).
Eastham has plenty of seasonal cottage-style houses, particularly on the bay side, but many folks have made the town their year-round home, relishing the combination of the flavor of Outer Cape living with closer proximity to "civilization." |
